Become A Member
One must complete six hikes, within a year's span, to become eligible for membership with The Cleveland Hiking Club. After you complete six hikes you will receive a welcome packet in the mail. The packet will include information about the club rules, a copy of the constitution, a membership card that must be signed by two current CHC members, and other information. Bring the card with you to the next hike to get the required signatures. Once you have sent the required paperwork and a check for your dues and initiation fee, you will become a member the following Sunday of that week. You don't have to be a member to hike, but there are benefits to becoming a CHC member. You will receive the club Newsletter and schedules, be eligible to register for our excursions and participant in events at the club facility. All members miles hiked are tracked and mileage patches are awarded as milestones are met.
You don't have to be a member to hike. Hikes are available seven days a week (usually on both the East and West sides of greater Cleveland. General classifications of the hikes are leisure (usually 3 miles, taking approximately 2 hours), moderate (usually 5 miles, taking approximately 1.5 to 2 hours and strenuous (see schedule). The type of path and ground to be covered, such as hills, etc., is usually listed in the schedule.
Annual dues are $45 / couple, $30 / individual. A one time initiation fee of $20 / person applies. Dues basically covers cost of mailings. Our monthly Newsteps provides mileage records, social events and information about other club activities such as excursions worldwide.
